Eastside Mission of Holy Theophany Orthodox Church

St. John the Baptist Mission of Holy Theophany Orthodox Church (a parish of the Orthodox Church in America, www.oca.org) began meeting monthly in the fall of 2019. The Mission church plant was a natural development of a parish community outgrowing its beautiful temple at 2770 N Chestnut Avenue. Holy Theophany members primarily from the east and north parts of Colorado Springs wanted to see an Orthodox parish on their side of town, and the mission regularly had over 80 people in attendance starting from its first Divine Liturgy.

The COVID-19 pandemic slowed the growth of the Eastside Mission, as services were halted during the spring of 2020, but the Mission revived and began weekly Sunday services in August 2020. For almost two years, St. John's Mission parish celebrated Divine Liturgy every Sunday at 9:00 AM at 6575 Oakwood Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80923, near Dublin and Powers. However, in early 2022, with the purchase of almost five acres of land off Woodmen Road, the Mission rejoined Holy Theophany to consolidate vision and resources until, God willing, its new temple will be built. We look forward, hopefully in 2025, to again serve the Divine Liturgy on the northeast side of Colorado Springs, bringing the light of the Church of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, to this part of town.

St. John's Mission is part of the Rocky Mountain Deanery of the Diocese of the West (www.dowoca.org). Glory to God for all things!
